What is the process of
using a coach?
The answer to this question is very individual. If your
request for a coach is self-initiated, you might find the
experience much like chatting with a trusted mentor or
athletic coach--someone who will give you straight advice but
makes you comfortable at the same time.
On the other hand, if you have been instructed to get
outside help on an issue or problem, you may feel threatened
talking so openly with a stranger who may be miles away. This
is certainly understandable and we make every effort to deal
with this in the diagnostic session.
It is not a sign of weakness to use a coach--quite the
contrary (many sports professionals use a personal coach).
More and more, coaches are used to help:
-
give
a career new energy, direction
-
develop
new options to solve specific problems
-
come
to terms with misalignment/conflicts of values and
actions
-
modify
a management style or interpersonal conflict
-
learn
new behaviors to achieve different results
-
all
of the above
The
important thing is this: you decide to take this important
step because you feel it is right for you. We will help you
ask the right questions to increase your comfort level with
the process, keeping in mind that learning--especially
learning about ourselves--is sometimes challenging but always
worthwhile.
